DJ Speaker Configurations

BeatHive DJs Truck Sound Configurations

Hey, it's the BeatHive Team!

Want to fully understand what you're getting into when it comes to sound? We often get questions about whether the speakers we use will cover the area for an event. To make it easier, we've created Heatmaps showing the default configurations of KingBee and Vespa, plus a look at a few sound system upgrades you can choose from!

DJ Speaker Configurations

2x 10'' Speakers (Comes with the DJ or DJ Booth )

Each square on the diagram represents 10 feet.

When you check the decibel meter, you'll notice that the volume exceeds 100 dB within an 18x18 foot area and remains steady at 95 dB from 18 feet to 60 feet. Beyond that, the volume drops to 80 dB, extending to about 110 feet. This configuration is ideal for dance floors accommodating 100 to 160 people within a 120x120 foot area.

DJ Speaker Configurations

4 HDL 6-Inch Speakers (Upgrade for $350)

Each square on the diagram represents 10 feet.

Although these speakers may look similar to the 2 10-inch speakers, you'll notice a difference when checking the decibel meter. The volume reaches over 100 dB within a 10x10 foot area and remains steady at 95 dB from 12 feet up to 80 feet. This setup provides a better overall sound with less loud congestion near the speakers while projecting the volume further.

You'll experience 80 dB of sound up to approximately 130 feet away. This configuration is ideal for maintaining consistent volume over a longer distance. In fact, we've had feedback from people who could hear our announcements from blocks away—under perfect conditions with no wind and ideal temperatures.

DJ Speaker Configurations

6 HDL 6-Inch Speakers (Upgrade for $2000)

Each square on the diagram represents 10 feet.

Above is an example of a non-network capable array hanging at 20 feet. Notice the display and distance the volume reaches. These are the exact same speakers as before! By flying them in the air you add 100+ feet of distance to your volume. This translates to people hearing the same volume at 20 feet from the speaker as 170 feet out from the speaker! Think about being that far away from the stage and still hearing the volume as if you were standing right in front of the speaker!

This will cover a field or City Park with ease and have been told by guests coming to city events they could hear our announcements from Miles away. We use this style of rig for DJ's, Fireworks, and Drone Shows.

When DJs claim their speakers will cover an entire field, remember that while you may get volume throughout the field, the sound levels in different areas can vary greatly. If someone says, "My speaker will easily cover the field, no problem!" ask them to provide a heatmap.

With our speaker software, we can overlay the heatmap directly on Google Maps to visualize the sound at your specific location, showing you exactly where we're covering. We want to be your partner in making your event a success, and we're always here to answer any questions.
